Wild Math® Kindergarten takes math learning outdoors, where it’s naturally hands-on, full of movement, and engages all the senses. In Wild Math, children build foundational math concepts through playful, hands-on exploration in nature, sorting and bundling sticks to understand place value, hunting for and counting collections of 100 objects, subitizing groups acorns, and playing simple games. This active, playful approach helps make abstract concepts concrete, deepens understanding, and keeps attention spans engaged!
The curriculum covers all the key concepts typically taught in kindergarten math, from counting and place value to patterns, addition, measurement, and geometry, plus plenty of practice activities to reinforce skills. Each unit includes a list of recommended math-themed picture books and games that work beautifully outside in warm weather and indoors during rainy days, snowy afternoons, or cozy evenings.
A full year planner (38 weeks) helps guide you through the kindergarten year with suggested plans and sequence, while still allowing the flexibility to adapt lessons to your learner’s needs, interests, and environment. Suggested materials and gear help make outdoor learning easy, whether you’re in a backyard, park, or urban setting.
